EMF Detector

No one knows for sure the reason behind it but many, if not most, ghostly manifestations are accompanied by elevated EMF (ElectroMagnetic Field) readings and these can be detected with a piece of ghost hunting equipment called an EMF detector. ( This ghost hunting tool is also called an EMF Meter)

It is not known if these elevated readings are caused by the energy the entity is using to manifest, if the reading is a by-product of the manifestation, or if it is caused by the entity transporting itself to that particular place and time.emf-detector

EMF is caused by both AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current) electromagnetic fields. Gauss meters are used to read the DC fields which occur naturally from Earth’s geomagnetic field. EMF detectors read the AC currents which are generally man-made or otherwise not a natural field.

For accurate reading of an EMF ‘event’, you need to read the entire surrounding three planes: up and down, front to back and side to side. There are two main types of EMF detector: the single axis and the tri-axis. The single axis detector detects the field on only one plane so will need to be oriented to three different planes and read three times for an accurate reading.

Even though a single axis detector is cheaper, when seconds count, you could lose precious readings having to take time to re-orient the detector and get those other readings. The tri-axis EMF detector reads all three planes at once, not only making it faster, but also more accurate as all three of the readings are taking place simultaneously.

Using an EMF detector during a hunt also helps in tracking moving entities that are not visible. If you have the tri-axis detector, by moving it side to side as you follow, you can see what direction the anomaly is moving and how fast.

When using an EMF detector as an aid during a ghost hunt, is it always a good idea to go through the area in daylight, checking out and making notes of areas that will give an elevated reading. Especially indoors, appliances, electrical wall outlets, wiring in the walls and other such things, will give off an elevated EMF reading.

Outdoor things like overhead power lines and outside lights can affect your readings. So knowing where these are located will help you separate the odd readings from the normal readings. While using the device during the hunt, readings between 2.0 and 7.0 are usually not caused by these things, as those readings are not strong enough.
